Vindication !

Usually I would wait until Sunday to present any sex news that I had run across for the week.

I just couldn't hold this information back. Being a woman that does a lot of her clothes shopping at Lane Bryant I like the data from this study. I doubt that it will change the preconceived notions men have about women, including my dear CJ, but there is still a feeling of vindication.

I have included excerpts about "The Curious Correlation Between Weight and Sex" below. Click on the link to get the whole story.

....According to research published in the September issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology, overweight women are more likely than their skinny sisters to report that they've had sex with a man -- 92% of overweight women reported having had sexual intercourse with a man vs. 87% of women of normal weight.
"It's totally unexpected," says Marie Harvey, the Oregon State University professor who co-authored the study with Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro, assistant professor at the school of medicine at the University of Hawaii....

The study's objective was to look at the impact of body mass index on sexual behaviour, and all other measures -- such as age of first intercourse, number of partners, frequency of intercourse and sexual orientation -- showed no difference between normal weight women and overweight women....

Prior to the release of the study's results, many hypothesized that overweight and obese women would be less sexually active than their normal-weight counterparts.
"It's our stereotype that men are attracted to slender women," says Harvey, who adds that thin women are often perceived as more sexually empowered....

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM DEB

Greetings to all my loyal readers. I need to let you know that I am taking more than a sabbatical this time. I am not closing down the site, but because of some health issues I can't keep up with my erotica. I get ideas, but don't seem to be following through with them as I should and I think that's unfair to my readers. To keep up with any new entries that will be posted, please either use the subscription button at the top of my sidebar, or if you prefer, send me your email address.

Maybe if we're lucky CJ will contribute some of his erotica to the site.

During this time, please remember that there have been stories, opinions, and pics since July 30th 2005. Please explore all of those. For the guys that have recently submitted their CBW's, I won't be getting rid of them, but will be posting at a future date. If anyone still feels like sending a Debbie Does You fantasy, I'll see what I can do to write it for you.

Although I can't promise any date that I'll be back, I'll let you know it takes a lot to keep me down.

You know I love all my readers and I hope to be able to put my time and passion into this blog soon.
I thank you, as always, for your patience, and patronage.

Sex News #10 - Continued

A couple of weeks ago I posted some news about how men and women deal with "come-hither".

For a reminder check out the news here.

I asked my readers to send me the words they made out of the following:

B E _ A _ E

L O _ A L

Below are my findings by gender and word.
Unfortunately I only got 7 responses and they were all male, but it's still interesting.

2 guys said: BEHAVE and LOCAL
2 guys said: BECAME and LOCAL
2 guys said: BEWARE and LOCAL
1 guy said: BEHAVE and LOYAL

Now to finish the news story:

Women came up with BEWARE and men BECAME
Women came up with LOYAL and men LOCAL

The situation of an attractive alternative implicity brings to mind threat and commitment to women. Women seem to have a stronger internal voice.
Women seem to think "If tempted, then defend". The researchers tried to teach this thinking to men.
Half were coached, the other half weren't.

Then they were presented with computer temptations:virtual reality hussies urging them to come hither.
75 percent of the uncoached men went through the virtual door of temptation.
Only 38 percent of the trained men succumbed.

An Overdue Update

Greetings to my wonderful readers. I have had family visiting for several days and I haven't been feeling well lately. I am also dealing with getting ready for an audit at work, usually not getting home until after 7:00pm most evenings. This means I haven't been able to write much, but it doesn't mean that I haven't been getting ideas. I have several notes for more stories when I have more time and less stress.
I want to give you an idea of a feature want to start. I hope that people like the idea enough that I'll keep doing it. I would like to start a feature called "Debbie Does You". I'd like to have my readers tell me about a fantasy they have that hasn't been fulfilled yet. I'll take that fantasy and turn it into a story.
There's more details to it all that I'm not going to go into yet. Starting thinking about sharing them with me.
More to come when I feel more like myself again.

Sex News #10 Come Hither

Today's news is from the Baltimore Sun, my home town newspaper.
In the Psychology column of the Health Today section I saw the following headline:
"Sexes view come-hither differently, studies find."

The study was about a flirtatious or seductive man or woman intruding in on a committed relationship.
Findings were reported in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and done by McGill University in Montreal.

When a move is made by an outsider men are more likely to succumb to temptation and women are more likely to reinforce the emotional fortress to protect the relationship.

It seems to have been an interesting study:
After an encounter/scenario with an attractive member of the opposite sex, the researchers had the subjects fill in the blanks of a word game.

I thought it might be fun to try this with my readers.

B E _ A _ E

L O _ A L

What words would you create?

Please don't leave your answers in the comment area. I don't want answers to be influenced by others. I will delete any answers in the comment area, but will still keep track of them.
Email me instead using the address on the sidebar or just click here
Don't forget to let me know what gender you are with your answer.

I'll keep this going for a week (or longer if I need more responses) and give the answers I got here along with what the study came up with in my next Sex News Sunday post.

Part Two of my news this week: I think my muse is here, I just need a little more energy to keep up with her. I should have more stories soon. In the mean time CJ is still writing so don't forget to visit his site, Dirty Debbie's CJ

Sex News Sunday #9 Too Close To Home

This week's news dismayed me not only because of the content, but the fact that it was discovered in my home state of Maryland.

It was recently discovered that in 2004 the database of women with cervical cancer had been altered so more were reported than actually had the disease in the state of Maryland.

The Baltimore Sun exposed what had gone on in it's July 29th edition.

It was discovered after 400 women who did not have cervical cancer received letters in 2005 asking for their participation in a study. Some of the women got in touch with Maryland's Family Health Administration. There was also a tip from an employee of the database management company that lead to a criminal investigation.

The database is used by CDC, NAACCR, other states and researchers. The number of cancer cases reported in the database is used to award grants to counties for cancer prevention, education, screening and treatment programs.

I don't know which is worse, the fact that such a lie would be perpetrated or that agencies have to lie about something like the amount of cancer patients to be able to get the funding they need to cure a devastating disease.

Read more about what's going on here.
Learn more about cervical cancer.
And please ladies, get your PAP smears and get your daughter's vaccinated with the new HPV vaccine.

Sex News Sunday #8

This week the post is a mixture of news and a poll to see how people feel about it.

The following story comes from The Coffee News.
It reminded me of the song Escape by Jimmy Buffet and this commentary.

A couple from Bosnia are getting divorced after they discovered that they were cheating on the other by having Internet affairs. What really surprised them was that the cyber-affairs turned out to be with each other. They had been carrying on a chat-room relationship for several months. They called themselves "Sweetie" and "Prince of Joy" and they poured out their hearts to one another. When the couple discovered they were both being unfaithful-even though it was with each other they decided to divorce.

Now what do you think? I personally would take all this as an opportunity to find out more about my partner and work on whatever led to the "affairs" in the first place. What do you think?

What Would You Do?
I'd try to work it out.
I'd just forgive and forget.
I'd get the divorce.

Sex News Sunday #7

I chose the following story not only for content, but for my own selfish reasons.

The subject today is not new to most women. It's from the always self proclaimed unbiased(?) Fox News online.
Fox reports on a study that shows that women feel 'cheap' and 'used' after a one night stand. Don't ask me why they used quotes for those words.
It is a story that looks into the psychology of casual sex. My favorite, next to my own, website is Wikipedia.
Wiki describes casual sex by:
One night stand is a single sexual encounter between individuals, where at least one of the parties has no immediate intention or expectation of establishing a longer-term sexual or romantic relationship.

Apparently women get involved with things like one night stands because of a certain degree of flattery felt, the sense of being wanted. Being a female I understand those feelings. Men are on the opposite end of the pole (excuse the pun): men lower their standards to get laid and the flattery is a fantasy to them.
I always enjoy the news I find that deal with the opinions and feelings that involve both sexes. To read all the information check out my last Sex News post and read about the study at FoxNews

Now to add some personal experience to the objective study.
When I was college, many years ago, before sex could kill you with AIDS or Hep C. I enjoyed many different men. I hope they enjoyed me too. I would say that about 95% of those encounters were casual or what is called today, steady fuck buddies.
True, once in a while I felt cheap and I questioned my standards. It wasn't all bad though.
When I was a 19 year old sophomore I was introduced by my friends to an 18 year old freshman.
I wasn't that impressed. Without going into the soap opera-like details. I eventually became interested and curious in him. I ended up propositioning him. In my mind it would be a fun night, maybe even a fun weekend, but that would be it. It was fun. It was great, I could barely walk the next day.
We ended up together for a much longer time than that weekend. I was surprised. It seemed like fate.
His name was CJ. We were married about 2 years later and divorced 5 years after that. We have wonderful daughter now, known as the Star Child to us. After 17 years we were reunited and are back making love to each other again.
I would say go into a casual sex experience with your eyes open gals, but remember you never know, it could be a way to meet your soulmate.

Sex News Sunday #6

Today's title for Sex News could be called "Is This Really News?"

As you may have noticed by now, my news posts many times are about recent research on the subject.  Apparently this week Durham University released research that shows they have proof that men like casual sex more than women do.  This 'fact' seems to be common knowledge to me.

The reasearch speaks more of evolution and emotional maturity and biology.  It always amazes me that just the difference of the experience of sex is different for woman, because of one major thing: a woman's body is invaded and penetrated during the act.

Sex News Sunday #5

Politics and Sex

I read an interesting article this week in regards to Sen. Clinton's failed presidential campaign.
Psychologists and sociologists at Live Science

These scholars say that the reason the she failed was social bias.
They theorize that when a woman is aggressive and acts like a leader that it causes conflicts with our gender stereotypes. This set her up for failure. It is difficult to like a woman that fits these leadership qualities.

Before I go on I want to make something clear. I am a female baby-boomer and I never supported Hillary. I don't think that being a female candidate was a factor. Our bodies are mere containers, no matter the gender, the handicap, the beauty, or any other physical factor, it's the contents that matter.
I didn't like the contents.

The sociological/psychological factors are fascinating though.
The idea that sexism is more acceptable than racism is an idea that is presented. Think of it, black men could vote before any woman could.
A Johns Hopkins study even showed that Obama got more media coverage than Clinton.

Sex News Sunday #4

This week I am really voicing more of an opinion than news.
When it was running on HBO, I loved Sex and the City
Samantha will always be my favorite and to this day whenever I order a Cosmo I think of them, but there is a limit girls!

I have been getting "news" about the movie from my source for these posts (Google alerts) for at least a month. It's becoming tiresome and it's no longer news folks.
Get over it. Just think if some of the sex bloggers you know of and read wrote a book or screenplay, now that would be juicy.

If you aren't over it below are some links I've been sent from Google, just today along with the true sex news including, sex scandals, sex crimes, the same-sex marriage rulings, and studies.

Sex News Sunday #3

This week's news can be filed under the 'ignorance is bliss' category.
I'll always think that sex is fun and love-making fulfilling, but like most things that take a certain maturity to enjoy, you need clear and subjective information.
Thanks to the current administration's policies this hasn't been the case for American teenagers.

According to new findings in The Journal for Adolescent Health teenagers are not having oral sex to remain 'technical virgins'. In fact oral sex started after having vaginal sex in 82% of the cases.
My point here has nothing to do with morals or ethics, it has to do with the health of our teenagers. According to the Center for Disease Control more than 1 in 4 teenage females have a sexually transmitted disease. Our administration is not keeping our children safe from disease because of it's puritanical belief system.

If you are close to or a family member of a teenager, please help them not only know when the time is right to make love to a partner, but how to stay healthy in the process.

Sex News Sunday #2

First things, first. CJ and I are leaving for what hopes to be a wonderful vacation today.
We have used Blogger's draft dashboard to set up some scheduled posts that will appear during the week we are gone. Once we are rested and reconnected we will return to more time postings. Now for the first of these scheduled posts...

This week included AIDS Awareness Day. This year there was a lot of focus on the increase of the disease in children from the age of 13 to 19, this according to Centers For Disease Control
According to the article in the Hartford Courant the day for awareness this year was used to push for sex education. I'm a great believer in education of all kinds, but there is something special about sex education. A lack of education at any time leads to fear and prejudice, two things we definitely need less of in the world today. Why would we want our children to suffer and die from such a disease just because of a lack of education or an unhealthy attachment to the excuse of it ruining morals.
If at all possible, bring truth to young people you know.

Sex News Sunday #1

As mentioned in my post on Tuesday the 15th 'My News' I am starting a regular item for Sundays: current events about sex.

The first bit of news involves research coming from The Kinsey Institute at the University of Indiana.
As the newswise site puts it, they have found that:
WHEN IT COMES TO SEX, SOME MEN ARE FROM MARS, OTHERS FROM VENUS
It's research about men reporting a variety of different experiences involving sexual desire and arousal.

The focus groups involved 50 men divided into three groups based on their age (18-24 years, 25-45 years and 46 and older). Below are some examples of the different experiences reported by the men:

* Some factors, such as depression or a risk of being caught having sex, were reported by some men as inhibiting sex, while other men found that they can enhance their desire and arousal.
* An erection is not the main cue for men to know they are sexually aroused. Most of the men responded that they can experience erections without feeling aroused or interested, leading researchers to suggest that erections are not good criteria for determining sexual arousal in men.
* Many men found it difficult to distinguish between sexual desire and sexual arousal, a distinction prominent in most sexual response models used by researchers and clinicians.
* The changes in the quality of older men's erections had a direct effect on their sexual encounters, including, for some, a shifting focus to the partner and her sexual enjoyment. Older men also consistently mentioned that as they aged, they became more careful and particular in choosing sexual partners.
* The sexual history of women also mattered to the men -- but differently for different age groups. Sexually experienced women were considered more threatening by younger men, who had concerns about "measuring up," but such women were considered more arousing for older men.
